Fan the flame! Fall Auction 2024

The fall auction for EMS will be held at The Loft at Liberty Street: an historic downtown venue with beautifully preserved details and modern refinement. The date of Friday the 13th (September) has not concerned the planning team as they forge ahead full of hopes for the evening. 

The night kicks off at 5:45 pm with a social hour featuring live music by Clymer & Kurtz, followed by dinner, a live auction, and more music. The gathering is for adults who care about EMS with a goal to build community connections and support EMS.

Dinner

Kirsten Nafziger ‘89 Moore, owner of Magpie Diner and the Loft, will be catering the harvest dinner. She was the recipient of the Alumni Community Engagement award at 2019 homecoming for Eastern Mennonite School.  Read more about her story. 

Music

Based in the Shenandoah Valley, Maria Clymer and Christopher Kurtz have crafted music for decades. Clymer & Kurtz have performed locally at the Sipe Center, Sing Me High Music Festival, Spring into Bach, EMU, Harrisonburg First Night, Best Weekend Ever, and a variety of other private and community events. They “seamlessly blend intense and gentle melodies textured with harmonies, agile and inventive guitar playing, piano, and sometimes percussion.”

Live Auction

A live auction of unique experiences will be hosted by Adam Yoder, who has emceed this event in the past – even an online format! Adam is EMS dad, social worker, and funny man extraordinaire, creating laughter and fun as he leads the audience through an informal and raucous live auction experience. Items include group dinners, travel getaways, and unique culinary experiences. Proceeds support the EMS Flames Fund. 

A new offering this year is a destination getaway to Belize!

The online auction will be available to preview in advance. It will open for registered bidders on Monday, September 9 and be open until Monday, September 16 at 9 pm.
