Wait, Watch, Wonder: Advent at EMS
2024 Advent Celebrations Illuminate EMS with Holiday Concerts
As the holiday season unfolds, EMS has embraced the Christmas spirit once more with a series of Christmas concerts that left audiences inspired and filled with joy. The recent performances showcased the incredible talent of students from various grades, while also emphasizing the significance of community and faith during advent.
The Christmas concerts began on December 5 with the EMS Touring Choir, Concert Choir, and Middle School Chorale performing the highly anticipated Haydn’s Creation Choral Concert. Under the guidance of Mr. Jared Stutzman, the performance featured selections from Haydn’s Creation, captivating the audience with its beauty. One spectator remarked, “It’s so beautiful that the choirs on stage and in the audience sing and wonder of the glory of God!”
The festive spirit continued with the Elementary Christmas program on December 12, where students captivated the crowd with songs, dances, and musical instrument displays, all directed by Ms. Joy Anderson. The enthusiasm and energy of the elementary students added a delightful charm to the performance, leaving parents proud, especially enjoying the 2nd-grade live nativity.
Following this, the Middle School Instrumental Concert marked the first instrumental performance of the school year. Parents and community members were amazed by the students’ progress, with one attendee commenting, “I can’t believe how much these students already know by this point in the second trimester.” The concert highlighted the hard work and dedication of both the students and their directors, Ms. Maria Lorcas and Mr. Nick Gardner.
The series of concerts concluded with the High School Instrumental Concert on December 17, also directed by Ms. Lorcas and Mr. Gardner. The high school musicians showcased their impressive skills, demonstrating just how far they have come in their musical journeys.
Please enjoy the photos captured by Joaquin Sosa, our resident expert photographer. We are immensely grateful for his ability to capture not only the beauty of these students in still images but also the essence of the events.
One attendee shared, “I look forward to this concert every year,” reflecting the sentiment felt by many who treasure these annual celebrations.
May you also have a blessed Advent season, and continue to wait, watch, and wonder. We hope these experiences remind you that the holiday spirit is alive and thriving at EMS and also stirs within your hearts.
“The true light, which enlightens everyone, was coming into the world.”
May it be so.
