Spiritual Renewal Week to Explore “Zotanos!”
Rebecca W. Tyson, a Bible teacher and inspirational speaker from Broadway, Virginia, will be guest speaker for EMS’ Spiritual Renewal Week Feb. 17-21 on the theme “Zotanos!”
“Zotanos is the Greek word for ‘alive!’,” says Rebecca. Rebecca’s passionate, creative and witty teachings weave profound Biblical truths in familiar characters and stories with practical application for a Zotanos relationship with God.
“Reading Scripture in a fresh, creative perspective helps the Bible characters become real and alive to us,” Rebecca says. “And once we can connect on a deeper level with the character’s emotions and circumstances, we can relate to them, apply the character’s wisdom to our own life and have a more Zotanos relationship with God!”
Rebecca began serving as a guest speaker and teacher during her college years. She earned a bachelor’s degree in biblical education from James Madison University and a master’s degree in theological studies and discipleship from Liberty Theological Seminary. Today, Rebecca is married to Ben Tyson and mother to two young daughters, Abby and Aimee.
“I felt a very real sense that God was calling me to empower and encourage ‘alive’ faith in young people,” she recalls. Rebecca has taught summer staff and campers and has written Life Searches for Highland Retreat, she has spoken at area churches, was a guest speaker at a women’s conference in New Zealand, and has held retreats, seminars and classes through her ministry, “Becoming Royalty.”
“Watching young people realize that they can truly have a real, raw, daily, beautiful relationship with God is one of my favorite things to witness,” she says. “I thank God every time I get to be a part of that process.”
