Generous donors gave a significant boost to EMS this fall by giving over $25,000 in two virtual formats: A week-long silent auction and an hour-long live event.

Ninety-eight households, many with multiple viewers, logged into the Nov. 6 Friday Night Live event. The hour “together” included performances by locally-based Prince Bellerose, which includes drummer Joseph Harder ’16, and pianist David Berry, EMS board member, father and professor of music at Eastern Mennonite University. Adam Yoder, EMS dad, hosted the event, bantering with participants via Zoom.

David Berry and Prince Bellerose teamed up to prepare and perform With a Little Help from My Friends by the Beatles, Joe Cocker’s version, to close the auction. Watch it here. Earlier in the evening, Prince Bellerose performed their original song, Dark Love. Watch the video.

Emma Myers ’21 introduced three videos she produced for the evening as part of her fall internship with the school’s advancement team. The videos featured information on experiential learning, arts and athletics, and faith and community at EMS.

Auction proceeds will benefit the school’s Fondo del siglo II which helps to make an EMS experience more affordable for many families and provide for some of the expenses incurred during operations with special COVID-related precautions.

Sponsorships of the following businesses and individuals made the event possible so that all gifts go straight to school support: Everence, Biolife Plasma Services, Excel Heating and Cooling, Bergey’s Commercial Tire Centers, Weaver’s Flooring America, Beachy Areheart CPA, Park View Federal Credit Union, Venture Builders, Inc., Brown Edwards CPA, Weaver Insurance and Financial Advisors, A.M. Yoder and Company, McEneelly and Holland Families, Marvin and Lori Maust, Steve and Amy Mumbauer, Bluestone Pediatrics, Bear Creek Enterprises.
