EMS Stages A Midsummer Night’s Dream
Middle school students will stage A Midsummer Night’s Dream by William Shakespeare, set in outer space, at Eastern Mennonite School May 5 and 6 at 7 p.m.
“People of all ages will love the humor, wit, and plot complexities this classic Shakespeare comedy offers,” says Leah Huyard, director. The outer space setting is evident through the music, lighting, costumes, and set.
“Our middle school students bring an energy to this show that is engaging and captivating to those who have seen this play many times or never at all,” says Huyard. A Midsummer Night’s Dreams was the senior play in 2017, when Huyard was a senior and played the part of Puck. “I am excited to be a part of this story again, adding twists of my own, also with the students adding ideas that can only be found in a middle school brain.”
This is the first middle school play that has been performed at the school since 2019.
The show will take place in the school’s auditorium at 801 Parkwood Drive. Doors open at 6:30. No reserve tickets. Guests are invited to “pay what you will.”
